- [City wall of Alcudia](https://monnaber.com/city-wall-alcudia/): The strategic location of Alcúdia - northeast of Mallorca and close to the sea - has exposed the city to the invaders. For this reason, King Jaume II. Prepared a protective system to protect the local population and to turn Alcúdia into a safe place in the event of an external attack. Thus, in the fourteenth century, the construction of the walls began, which will end only at the end of the same century. Originally it was a fortified quadrangular structure with 26 towers distributed along a perimeter of 1.5 kilometers and with an average height of 6 meters. This defensive construction demarcated the historic center of Alcúdia. Over the centuries, the walled area was rebuilt several times, for example after the Germanic War (1523), when it was fortified with three bastions: Xara, Vila Roja and Església. Due to population growth, part of the modern walls were demolished at the end of the 19th century and the protection of this architectural heritage was demanded. In 1974 they were declared a Historical-Artistic Complex. Today, a walk through the old town of Alcúdia, bounded by the fortified complex, is a true journey into the past. The area is peppered with small bars and restaurants with a terrace where you can taste local cuisine.
- [LLUC](https://monnaber.com/lluc/): The spirituality of Mallorca The sanctuary of Santa Maria de Lluc (sanctuary of Santa Maria de Lluc, in Catalan) and the place name come from the Latin Lucus, and refers to "sacred forest". It is located in the municipality of Escorca, approximately at 400 meters altitude, in the Sierra de Tramuntana on the island of Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands. It is considered the holy place and pilgrimage site of the island, where the Virgin of Luke, the patron saint of Mallorca resides. Every year there is a multifaceted event called Marxa donis Güell a Lluch, on foot to Lluch, which is attended by more than 50,000 people who make a pilgrimage of more than 48 km from Palma until they reach the monastery. In addition, it has a botanical garden, which was restored in 1956, called Botanical Garden of Lluc. The monastery is the first and most important Marian sanctuary of the Balearic Islands.
- [BEACH COLL BAIX](https://monnaber.com/beach-coll-baix/): A hidden environment that only Mallorcan people know Coll Baix is about 25 kilometers from the Hotel Monnàber Nou. This beach of boulders and dense, lead-colored sand pervades with some rushes and beach lilies. It is a broad and straightforward access to the sea, ending in a spectacular beach flanked by impressive cliffs, which are sloping and closed by a considerable embankment. The plains spring from this sandy area. At 445 meters, this area is guarded by a 16th-century defense tower, Sa Talaia de Alcudia or Victoria, which dominates the bays of Alcudia and Pollensa. Should you come by boat the anchoring must be done some distance from its shore, as it has a small depth of the sea. On the coast, on a rocky and sandy bottom, a draft of about five meters is recorded. This beach is the first refuge between Cap des Pinar and the enchanting Cap de Menorca. After only 4,8 sea miles you reach Port d'Alcudia. To get to the foot of the Cala, you need to do some sports to overcome the path of wood and stones that gives you access. From the Monnáber Nou Hotel we recommend to visit the Campanet market on Tuesday, our village right on the doorstep, although it is a small market, the place with the market atmosphere in the morning enjoys a very special flair and gives the visitor a vision of the intense life of the place. We also recommend the Sineu Market on Wednesdays, Inca Thursdays and Pollensa and Sa Pobla Sundays. The markets are open in the morning until about 14 o'clock. - [Route Puig Galileu](https://monnaber.com/puig-galileu/): To start the route you have to go by car towards Lluc, or urbanization Son Masip. Leave the hotel direction Caimari, from there the road up to the Coll de sa Batalla. From here you can walk or drive direction Lluc or further to urbanization Son Masip and its parking.
- [Route Lluc – Binifaldo](https://monnaber.com/lluc-binifaldo/): The monastery of Lluc is considered of being the most important religious sites in Mallorca; surrounded by the green slopes of the Serra Tramuntana it is a classic tourist sight of all kinds of tourists and Mallorcans. The back lands of the Lluc monastery are heavily forested and surprisingly quiet, only a few minutes from the monastery you will find yourself in another world. Here the extremely weathered limestone has created a beautiful landscape with extraordinary shapes. A nice and relaxed walk in the hinterlands of the monastery; you will have the opportunity to shortcut the walk from Bibifaldó back to Lluc or to add an extra climb to Coll de Pedregat. This walk is apt for the entire family and is a perfect match with a visit to the monastery of Lluc.
- [Route Penya d´es Migdia](https://monnaber.com/hiking-route-penya-des-migdia-malorca-monnaber-nou/): Short but pretty steep walk to the nearest peak of the Serra Tramuntana from the Monnàber estate. After a short stretch of beautifully mixted agricultural land of olive and carob groves we walk upstream of the usually dry torrent de Carrós. A steep trail through dense and spiny forest climbs up to the summit of the Puig Penya Migdia. From the summit you have stunning views of the inlands of Mallorca (Es Pla in Mallorquin). Our way back to the Monnàber estate goes over the same route. Although a short route, do not underestimate its difficulty; a steep and sometimes-slippery trail makes it a tuff climb.
- [Route Binibona](https://monnaber.com/route-binibona/): This beautiful route through a rarely visited part of the Serra Tramuntana is quit an experience. The Mediterranean forest becomes greener and dense as we slowly ascent by the down the creek bed of the torrent Carrós. The mountain pass `Como Llarga` literally is a peak of the hike, from here we descent to the valley of the remote village of Binibona which counts less than 30 inhabitants. An easy-going gravel road takes you through ancient olive and carob groves back to the Monnàber estate. For people with an adventurous attitude and good physical shape can opt to climb the impressive crest of Sa Cappella Blava from waypoint number M 041.
- [Route Campanet](https://monnaber.com/route-campanet/): This route leads over several old estates such as Santiani and Monnàber. Winding dirt roads through lush green meadows, this is how the country site of Mallorca must have looked like 2 centuries ago. Passing fallow fields and ancient olive groves we discover the surprisingly quite hinterlands of Campanet. Part of this route follows the old road from Pollensa to Selva, which ran parallel to the Sant Miquel stream. Nowadays you will hardly find anybody in the area, this extraordinary well-preserved landscaper all for yourself. A small track of paved road takes us to the centre of Campanet were a cup of coffee on the main square is a pleasant way to take a small break before returning to Monnàber Nou. An ideal walk for the whole family, or just to for a morning or afternoon to explore the surroundings of the Monnàber property.
