At
the beginning of the 13th century King Jaime I
of Aragon conquered Majorca, overthrowing its Arab
rulers. The king
divided
the lands among
the nobles who had supported him. One of these
territories, in the gently sloping foothills of
the magnificent Serra de Tramuntana mountain range,
surrounded by olive, almond, carob and fig trees,
was known by the Arabic for ‘Hill of Flowers’ –‘Monnaber’.
